Assistance Program Information

Meet the Need is a volunteer non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We are based out of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, in Clay County. With the proceeds from our flea market and thrift store, we are able to help people in the surrounding areas and beyond in the following ways:

WORK ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Car repairs, gas for work, work clothing and footwear

CRISIS CARE PROGRAM
Emergency food from our pantry, clothing, emergency medical support (including small prescriptions)

HOUSEHOLD SET-UP AND ASSISTANCE
Provide items to set up a household when coming out of prison, homelessness, as well as abusive and divorce situations, etc.

EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE
Provide school supplies on site at nearby schools for those in need, backpacks with school supplies to some clients, help with school fees/ sports fees and equipment, donations for certain programs, and offer free books at the store.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
Christmas Store for those families we find with a true need, birthday gifts for some children when parents cannot afford them and more.

PASS IT ON PROGRAM
Out of season merchandise and surplus donations are give away where we find a need, including impoverished areas in Missouri as well as other countries and disabled veterans.

OPEN EAR POLICY
We will listen to almost any other reasonable request from anyone in the surrounding area (not limited to certain counties).
